Flag Status Alert: United States Flag and Maryland Flag will be at Half-Staff

Per Public Law 107-51 (passed by the 107th United States Congress), the United States Flag is to be flown at half-staff each year in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service, in Emmitsburg, Maryland. This year, the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service will occur on Sunday, May 5, 2024. Therefore, the United States Flag shall be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset, Sunday, May 5, 2024.  As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff as well.  No flag may be higher than the United States flag.

Flag Status Alert: Fallen Heroes Day 2024

Flag Status Alert: Maryland Flag will be at Half-Staff

This is to advise that Governor Wes Moore ordered the Maryland Flag lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset, Friday, May 3, 2024, for Fallen Heroes Day. This day honors Maryland police, firefighters, and emergency medical/rescue personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty during the last year.
