This is to advise that Governor Wes Moore ordered the United States Flag and Maryland Flag lowered to half-staff effective immediately. Flags shall be returned to full-staff at sunset on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. This action is in honor of former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away today, Sunday, December 29, 2024 (per federal law, the flag shall be flown at half-staff 30 days from the death of a former President).

President Joseph R. Biden has ordered the United States Flag lowered to half-staff tomorrow, Saturday, December 7, 2024, in honor of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. The flag is to be flown at half-staff for the entire 24-hour period of Saturday, December 7, 2024, starting at midnight tonight and returning to full-staff at midnight tomorrow night. This action commemorates those Americans who died as a result of their service at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff. No flag may fly higher than the United States flag.

This is the day of the memorial services for Retired Maryland Court of Special Appeals Judge Andrew Larimore Sonner, who passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024; and former State Delegate Thomas Harold Hattery, who passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024.

This is to honor and pay our respects to the individuals who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001.

Some of these documents date back to the 1950’s, such as our zoning permission grant from Baltimore County for the establishment of our prior post home as a “private club”. Also included are the agreements between Post 116 and the Maryland 2nd Artillery for the use of the cannon and other miscellaneous historically interesting documents.

This action is for Agent Davis Martinez of the Maryland Division of Parole and Probation. Agent Martinez was killed in the line of duty on Friday, May 31, 2024.
